Self-care, self-love comes in many forms. The yin and yang, the push and pull, creating space for the day before the day has had a chance to fully form. As my yoga teacher said this morning, it’s about balance; finding ease in the effort, effort in the ease. Wisdom from the universe. Thank you, universe. But first…
We all awake later than our weekly routine, but earlier than most. It feels like our little private time before the world around us can shape our day. Another round of kisses and beastly belly rubs before dispensing breakfast and creating a second cup of coffee in as many days that you know will go cold. This morning, feeling oh so clever as you place it in the microwave, safe in the knowledge you’ll return to enjoy it in due time. How much time? In due time.
Back to bed and shut the door. It’s still dark so you embrace the dreams and songs that float equally through your head. Your familiar touch juxtaposed with the new narratives that fuel your morning fire. Quiet at first, yet tension builds and you hear a voice so clearly in your head offering encouragement. Your voice letting go alongside your body as a response; a panting, laughing, head drifting back to the coldness of your pillows as you lay there just a few… minutes.. more.
A biiiiiiig stretch then it’s off to stretch. Or, more accurately, practice. Practicing poses, finding hidden strength and beauty in your body and your mind. Who hid them? You did. Acknowledging the wonderment at uncovering what has always been there.
“What does balance look like for you?”, my yoga teacher asked this morning. The answer to that, ever-evolving, as your body unfolds from posture to posture. The effort in the ease, the ease in the effort. Allowances for both the shouts and whispers of your morning to greet the rising sun. Permission to take it easy; easy like Sunday morning.
