Conversations with Schmoop – Part 3: Go Fuckin’ For it

We’re going to call this one a conversation, though they’re not always linear. We’re going to keep using the terms of endearment, though they’re not always pretty. Because it all comes from a place of love.

“You know you should go for it.” Outa the damn blue at 4something in the morning.

“Schmoop, it’s 4whatever in the morning & I’m on a ride.”

“It’s endurance Booty, you can do these in your sleep. You should go fuckin’ for it. Whatever it is you wanna do. Figure it out and do it. I told you that when I was here.”

“Yes, I know that. So you’re telling me this again because…”

“Because you need to hear it again. Because I love you, but goddamn can you be stubborn. Don’t make decisions to make anyone else proud. Make yourself proud.”

I’m still pedaling away, with nothing to rebut this so he just keeps going…

“I’ve got news for you. I’m proud of you, so’s your dad, so is everyone who has ever loved you.”

Oh fuck. Don’t make me cry on this damn bike again.

“Maybe you’re crying because it rings true.”

“Fuck you.”

“Yeah, yeah, fuck you too. I’ll leave you to it, Booty-boo.”

As I’m gathering myself he’s back.

“One more thing. I’m gonna need you to quit talking shit about your brain. That’s starting to piss me off for real. Have a good day baby.”

Just like that, he’s gone again. But we all know, not really.
